Assistant Cheesemaker:

 Located on a 1000-acre farm that is home to the Farms for City Kids Foundation, Spring Brook Farm Cheese is a small, hardworking cheese team.  We make, age, and distribute 3 award winning alpine-style cheeses.  We are looking for someone passionate about making outstanding cheese to join our team. 

General Responsibilities include:

·      Assist cheese maker 1 – 2 days per week in the make room.  This includes various time-sensitive tasks throughout the make process, turning and stacking large wheels of cheese, and cleaning equipment and tools following food safety regulations. 

·      Turning, washing and caring for aging cheese in our caves (affinage).

·      Various tasks as needed including general building cleaning and assisting with packing and shipping.

Requirements:

·      Lift up to 40lbs comfortably

·      Have reliable transportation that can travel dirt roads

·      Work five days per week including one weekend day

 Compensation is hourly - $20/hr. The average day is 8 hours long but can extend up to 10 hours if it is a make day.
